Westbrook is changing worship service times!

August 23, 2010

“What?” you say. All that hype and build up for something like this- this is no big deal! Actually, it is a BIG deal. The BIG deal is that we are attempting to make yet another way for people in our community to find seats, parking spaces and meaningful ministry at Westbrook. Over the last four years our 10:00 & 11:30AM service has been at capacity. As we wait for God’s timing to construct our Veteran’s Parkway campus, we need to do whatever it takes to make room for more and more people to hear about the love of Jesus. Now, we have investigated several options (like adding Saturday night services) but for now, we want to make an attempt to even out our three morning worship hours. Our Gente Unida service is flexing as well to help make this transition a reality. So begin to pray now about how you might flex with your Sunday schedule to help this balance take place. Starting October 3, 2010 (on Westbrook’s 14th Anniversary) a new worship schedule will begin. We not only want you to get ready for a change but we want you to ask your neighbors and friends to be in worship with you. The amazing statistic that we have been sharing as of late is that 92% of the people in Bolingbrook do not attend church. A high number could also probably be shared about Romeoville, Naperville, Woodridge and Plainfield. To be the kind of church that Jesus died for, we must be vigilant in reaching out to all people who need Jesus Christ. As we say all the time… God will make a way when there seems to be no way. Our desire is that everyone in our area knows that reality for themselves.

New Worship Times
Beginning Sunday, October 3, 2010
(Westbrook’s 14th Anniversary)
9:00 am Full KA and Avenue56 worship in the chapel
10:25 am Full KA and Velocity Student worship in the chapel

Connecting the Dots!

August 23, 2010

Do you recall playing those connect the dots puzzles? These are puzzles or patterns that once completed, reveal a picture that was virtually impossible to see until you managed to connect all the dots together. Frankly, our lives and our stories are a lot like a connect the dots puzzle. There is so much that has gone on in our stories that perhaps not much of it makes sense until we are able to connect the dots and see the whole picture of what God is up to. The problem is, too many of us live in isolation and end up trying to make those dots connect all by ourselves. If you want to get an accurate picture, a more complete drawing of your story, you need to do it with the help of others who are trying to connect the dots of their own stories as well. And the best place to connect the dots of your life is in a small group here at Westbrook! You can sign up on the ministry table in the foyer or indicate your interest in a small group on one of our In-Touch Ministry cards. Pastor Rob is always ready to talk with you about getting connected TODAY! You can contact him by phone at (630) 759-4320 or by e-mail at rob.daniels@westbrookchurch.org.

Summer Slump Catch Up Offering – Aug 22

August 9, 2010

Summer Slump Catch Up Offering
August 22, 2010 – All Services

Did you receive and read your recently published summer Make A Way Newsletter? One was mailed to your mailbox as well as to your computer inbox. Take a moment to read this important document and make plans to be a part of our Summer Slump Catch Up offering on August 22. While Westbrook does not talk too much about money, this is a critical season for us. Lower than normal summer giving has depleted our cash reserves that we had in place as we entered the summer months. We need to catch up and replenish these monies so that we are not hampered in doing the ministry that God has called us to do. Our staff has “tightened their belts” and we are “watching our p’s and q’s”, but we call upon you, our church family to see us through this. We want to seriously challenge you to faithfully give your full tithe every week. Additionally, if you have missed some this summer and can “catch up”, please do so. Through all of our faithful stewardship efforts we will be able to accomplish the ministry that God has given us a vision to do this summer and fall.
