I appreciate your comments. Good things to think about. I'm a white dude in Cleveland, on staff at a church starting April 09. I want to be part of the solution and not passively contribute to the problem. Thanks for the thoughts.

Live like you were dying...
Thanks pastor for your words of encouragement and challenge to live as though we only have two weeks to live.
As I meditated on your sermon, I tried to "transport" myself back in time, to a place amongst the group of twleve that were close to Christ throughout his ministry. I imagined myself sitting and listening to several of the most compelling sermons ever given. I observed miracles that would astound and convert even the most confirmed, true atheist. At the heart of it all, my friend the "Messiah" is holding on to a constant theme- Only what you do for the kingdom of Heaven will last. He mentions that he is the only way to the kingdom. Man, did we pick the best friend to have or what?! Suddenly, it all becomes too clear, too quickly. In order to have eternal life, we have to die...not just spritually to sin, but physically as well. At that point, I found myself "wavering." This life is all I know. Is there another way? That's when I returned to my present- day thoughts. Thousands of years later, the call is still the same. The way is still the same. My "legs" of conviction are more sturdy some days than others. That's when the importance of the church body becomes so important to me. It is a blessing to have a church like Westbrook in my community. My family really enjoyed attending this Sunday. We will continue to worship and pray with the congregation.

God Bless,

Dr. King's legacy is one that every single American can claim!

His life was the ultimate example of what it meant to love as Christ loved... to the point of self-sacrifice....what an incredible legacy!

Pastor,

Thanks so much for posting this topic! I agree that we are all one in the completed work of Jesus. There is no "white" or "black" heaven, simply heaven. My wife and I have a wonderful Interracial marriage with two multi-racial children and one on the way. We have been attending Westbrook Church since July of this year and have always felt welcome. Even the Westbrook pastoral staff is diverse! It is a blessing to worship with you.

May God bless and keep you
