Ready For A New Year!

Happy New Year 2007The trio of holidays are culminating tonight and tomorrow with New Years Day. I don’t know how you feel~ but I am ready for a BRAND NEW year. 2007 is almost in the history books and the new year of promise and opportunity is upon us. This past year brought a great deal of challenge. There were several challenging issues that we had to work through as a church and even me as a person. Westbrook Church endured some transition and change this year. Some ministry was hampered due to financial challenges. Our church played a part in the sad story of the missing Stacy Peterson. Stacy attended Westbrook for several years. Please continue to pray for her, her family and this entire situation.
All of these issues and challenges however brought us closer and closer to Christ. That’s what challenges do. They either cause us to run FROM Christ or be DRAWN to Him. I’m glad to say with a humble spirit that I feel closer to Christ than ever. As you think through this past year and get fired up for 2008, I pray that God will excite you with vision, passion and clarity. I’m ready for 2008. I’m FIRED UP to see what God has for us this new year! Happy New Year!

Reid and TruettIn an earlier blog post I introduced you to Truett. Check him out now, he’s six and half months old and is really stealing the show this Christmas. Our boys can’t wait to teach him some soccer moves. Here is a picture with Reid holding him. What a great pair huh? A multi-cultural blog, a multi-cultural church and a multi-cultural family. God is GOOD!

Merry Christmas 2007

Christmas 2007The big day has arrived! In fact as I write this post it’s really almost half over. We’ve eaten heavy… ( I even salt brined a turkey for our big feast. Thanks to Paula Deans assistant, Orrin Sumatra for the recipe and help. BTW Orrin. It was awesome). A lot of us have already napped… and the movie “Christmas story” has played about 150 times already. Christie’s family is in from all over and we have had a great day so far…. Lot’s of hours left. Now we’re ready to open up presents.
As the Mitchell’s have had a great Christmas, we certainly hope and pray that the same is true for you. May God’s peace and grace shine upon you this season and in the new year.

Christmas At Westbrook

Day to Day, Westbrook Church No Comments »

Christmas 2007Well it’s been a crazy time in the life of Westbrook over the last several weeks and one of the areas that’s been pushed to the back burner is this blog. I’ve really wanted to post, but have found myself quite consumed. In the midst of the busyness however, God has proven faithful. We are gearing up for our Christmas service. This Tuesday night is our Annual Christmas Candlelight Service. The weather has been “challenging” to say the least over the last three Saturday’s… All in all, though God has shown week after week that this is HIS church and we are HIS people.
We’ve got some exciting things in store for 2008, but right now we are focused on this weekend’s worship time. If you’re looking for a place to connect with God this holiday month… check us out at Westbrook!
