Wow this has been quite a month. Since I last posted here at Color Outside the Lines we have been chasing soccer games with our boys. Our middle son - Reid placed third in the Paw Pac Tournament for the Plainfield Middle Schools and our eldest son - Tyler who plays for Plainfield Central High School will continues their post season tournament play this Friday afternoon with a game against Naperville North HS. On top of all of this family stuff, I have been preaching my heart out (even preached the Biblical Mandate for Multi-Cultural Churches at Lincoln Christian College chapel services), did a quick Church Plant coaching trip to Birmingham, AL and we then started a new small group. Reid joined a new soccer club - Deportivo Chivas: They start their winter season tonight (hows that for developing cross cultural relationships?)… and o yeah I celebrated a birthday (#43). Just a few things have kept us running!
Just a few weeks ago, Westbrook shared a great celebration with Gente Unida’s 3rd Anniversary. Yesterday was the 12th Anniversary of Westbrook Christian Church. It was a great celebration as well. Our worship attendance was just under 1200. The worship was awesome, I started a new series entitled “Tales of Real Survival” and the Spirit of Christ was all around us. Thank you Lord for 12 amazing years of ministry.
One of the very important aspects of being a multi-cultural church is staying connected into the cultures that you are trying to reach. Westbrook is able to do that through Pastor Jonaton Alarcon’s connection into the Latin music scene.
Many of you know that Jonaton is Program Director and DJ for Moody Radio - Radio Esperanza. What you may not know is that recently Univision asked Jonaton to do a postive, family friendly radio show each morning on Chicago Spanish Radio AM 1200. It is a completely secular radio station, hearing positive, encouraging radio in a prime spot. Please pray for this superb ministry opportunity to show the love of Jesus.
