Kingdom Ave
Even the best of parents need help. At Westbrook you’ll find one of the finest children’s programs in the area. That’s by design! Children are a top priority with Jesus and we have designed Westbrook Christian Church to follow His example!
In all of our programs we foster a climate of creativity and hands-on learning so that your child will enjoy going to church and learning more about God’s love.
We have age-graded classes for Pre-school through Fifth Grade that meet simultaneously with our worship service on Sundays, as well as fully staffed infant and toddler care centers.
We also have exciting monthly events that will allow your child the opportunity to meet new friends! More than anything else, we want to work with you to reinforce your efforts at home at raising positive children. If you’re looking for a church where your whole family can join in and learn, Westbrook Christian Church is the place for you. Remember, we’re a church that loves children. Please come and see for yourself what we’re doing to show it! Visit Us
A Safe Place
The Staff of Kingdom Avenue realizes that when you place your child in our ministry activities/programs, you are trusting us with one of the most important blessings in your life. Because we understand this, we are doing everything we can to make our ministry a safe place for your child. We have adopted the security tag system. We also select all of our workers very carefully and screen them with a multi-step interview process. Regular training sessions are held throughout the year so that our staff will keep abreast on new styles and teaching techniques.
“We exist to build children and their families on a firm foundation in Christ upon which they can mature for the rest of their lives!”
We are so excited about what is happening at Westbrook Christian Church in the Kingdom Avenue Children’s Ministries! We invite you to not only check us out here on our website, but come visit us during one of our Sunday morning services! It’s a place that you’ll meet new friends and go home and bring back your neighbors! The adult leaders are nice and you’ll simply think it’s a cool place to be!
Our History
So, who started Kingdom Avenue? Who came up with the name “Kingdom Avenue”? Where did the frog logo come from? Why does Westbrook put so much emphasis on kids? Read this page for answers to these questions…
Westbrook Christian Church opened on October 6, 1996 with the purpose “To Know Christ Fully, and Make Him Known!” Bolingbrook, Illinois is a rapidly growing suburb of Chicago where the average age of its members is 30 years old. The Kingdom Avenue Children’s Ministry was one of the hottest subjects of this new church plant! It was started by a great woman of God named Georgia Kurko of the Chicago District Evangelistic Association. Her and her great team of volunteers along with Pastor Mont Mitchell and his wife Christie got the ball rolling. Dr. Kurko set up the values and basic guidelines of the ministry. The name “Kingdom Avenue” was found by Pastor Mont and it fit the idea of pointing kids to the kingdom. Shortly after the start, Tracie Orlowski came on staff to the Kingdom Avenue team. Tracie brought her great ideas and experience from a large church background and kept the ministry growing and growing while training volunteers and recruiting people to serve in the ministry. Later we came up with the Frog logo which symbolizes the growth that we as Christians go through as a frog does from a tadpole. Then, when we accept the love of a prince (Jesus), we become royalty (I Corinthians 15:51-52)!
Today Kingdom Avenue is led by our Director of Early Childhood Ministries, Mary Wolf-Fischer, and Director of Elementary Ministries Dave Fischer.
